• Help-

I was trying to jazz up my twitter widget, but I don’t know what I’m doing. I copied and pasted some code into the widget.php, and now I can’t access my dashboard and I can’t even view the site. I get a black page with this message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘.’, expecting T_FUNCTION in /hermes/bosweb/web293/b2939/ipg.bridentitypoliticsco/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/inc/widgets.php on line 28

What did I do and how do I undo it? Please?

  • This is one of the main reasons we NEVER edit core files.

You will need to re-download your current version of WP, and extract the zip file.

Then, you’ll need to use FTP or your hosts CPanel to navigate through your file directories to “wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/inc” directory.

Then.. upload the fresh copy of the “widgets.php” file… over-writing the one on your server.

    Done. Thank you. Very helpful.

So if I want to taylor my twitter widget to look nicer, how do I do that? Does it have something to do with CSS? I am such a beginner it is hilarious.
