Multiple "home" pages

Hi,
I am just starting to create a new website for a client and am considering building the site on a WP platform to make updating easier. It is an art center/performance space that will have listings for a variety of activities (music performances, gallery shows, workshops etc.) I’d like to have separate pages for each activity, and treat each as a “home” page that behaves like a blog (rather than a static page) in that there are separate posts for each event – that way I can just continue to add new posts as events are coming up. I’ve searched the forums, but haven’t come up with this kind of application and am wondering if it is even possible, and if so, how?!
