• I need to reinstall 3.4.2 but I don’t want to write over my content. How do I do a manual install to keep the content file intact?

  • Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I’m on Hostgator and the installation is a one-click. Won’t that write over all of my files. If so, how do I manually install everything but the content folder? Thanks for your help.

Using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

I’m sorry, but I’m fairly new to this. Do I put the WordPress installation on my computer and then ftp the folders to my host? Thanks.

    Yes.
