    Hi,

A question about setting the ‘auto’ option in Table 1A-1 to enable resizing for responsive themes, mobile devices etc.

Does ‘auto’ now override all other settings?

For example, can I still set the size for my Gallery page? When I switched to ‘auto’ the top/bottom bars – start slideshow, description, counter increased to the size of my theme page’s width 940px. But, the images remained the same size which makes sense.

Is it possible to resize the WPPA bars to 700px – my previous setting?
I tried: %%wppa%%%%slide=2%%%%align=center%%%%size=700%%, but that did not work.

This is probably more about aesthetics. It just looks a little weird with the wide framing, but I can live with it.
The ‘auto’ makes the gallery work perfectly on my mobile phone ??

I think that I’m a little confused by your wording here:
Do not use %%size=[any number]%%, unless you want a fixed width display. This setting is inherited to the next %%wppa%%, so use %%size=auto%% in the next %%wppa%% occurrence to go back to automatic.

    Thanks
    Andrew

The idea is that setting Table I-A1 to auto causes the default width to auto. If you set a %%size=..%% it should produce a display of the suze you specify.

If the next %%wppa%% does NOT specify a size, the most recent size is used, so reset it then to %%size=auto%%.

However, it seems that there are themes that manage to overrule (=destructify) the explicitly specified <div style="width:700px;" >...</div>. I do not know how to prevent that.

So, the answer is YES, you can set a specific size, but i can not guarantee that it works always and a second %%wppa%% in the same page/post should specify a %%size=auto%% to get back to normal.

Thanks, I think I understand. My theme (Weaver Pro) has several ‘smart’ and ‘responsive’ settings.
I tried them, but couldn’t get the wppa elements to resize to 700px like the images.

Really, it’s fine. The gallery looks fine on my laptop and looks much better on a smartphone. The Weaver simulator setting looks good with a tablet too. I need to check on a real tablet at some point. So, I think the auto settings are working well. Same with the slideshow widget.

For me, since it’s a travel website, I may eventually get more traffic from people on the road with portable devices than desk/laptop users.

Thanks for the ongoing great help and much improved admin area ??
