• Hello,

I notice from this board that there seem to be alot of bugs in WP 2.0 that screw up sem-theme-pro. In particular, it looks like alot of the plugings are messed up.

Was just wondering if there were any instructions on what plugins to avoid for the time being, or issues that I might run into, with WP 2.0 running. (I would have installed 1.52 but I use Fantastico to autoinstall..and it now does 2.0).

    Thanks.

Also, I see where I am changing the permalinks where it says I should update my htaccess file. Also, near the bottom it says “if your htaccess file were writable…”

So…should I make my htaccess file 777? Dont remember doing this before..

    TIA….

666 should be enough. It was always like that.

    mine is working at 644.

    depends on safe mode.

i’d like to correct the above statement on the semiologic pro package. the bugs that end up in the thread are almost always WP relates. Were it not for WP2 (highly un-)stable, the pro package would essentially be bug free — and that, along with support, is precisely what makes it a valuable piece of software.

Denis, I agree. WP2 is the problem. I hope I didnt come across otherwise.

    In this same subject…

I made a post on a new site, and when I click on the individual post URL, it says “No Posts Found” and leaves a search bar there, but it shows up on the homepage.

    Any ideas?

First, get a Mullenweg doll. Curse it, stick a knife in it, and burn its head off. Then stick the knife in it again a few more times.

Feel better? Yeah, I know. I do this almost every night.

Now, open your ftp software, and chmod your .htaccess file to make it writable. Then visit the permalink options, and save them again.

And then, burn the rest of the doll.

Thanks….. I tried like you said, but nothing.

    could you post the link?

WOW! Where in the world did you even FIND a Mullenweg doll?

    ??

    Sure – https://www.funnywebvideos.com

    sminc- I’m not telling. ??

I didnt even think about this, but maybe I could have just overwritten the wp 2 installation with the files from the sem-them-pro-wp-1.52 folder?

Hmm.. I did another install on another domain. I tried to view the post on it, and it wouldnt let me view the post..a popup error message said something about maybe I had some cookies set wrong?

Then I switched the permalinks, and it is giving me the same “No posts found” on the page.

…Of course, I am doing it differently than most.

I use Fantastico to autoinstall WP. Then I just paste in the sem-theme-pro files through FTP in public_html (and overwrite any files it asks to).

Only thing I can think of, is its something with my htaccess file. Maybe the file Wp 2 puts in there is the one I should be using, instead of the one from sem-theme-pro? (they may not even be different..)

    Here is the code:

    # BEGIN WordPress

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php

    # END WordPress

@jimmywhofan: I must confess I’ve a bit out of ideas on that one.

I’d first try disabling and refreshing the cache (options > wp cache, clear cache + disable it.

then, I’d try changing the permalink rule. the id/slug scheme is not any better in terms of SEO than date/slug, and is so much less usable.

@sminc: I know this chinese guy with a doll factory ?? think I should sell a shop, e.g. on mullenwegsucks.com?
