First, I love the Scrappy theme! While adjusting the settings and creating a child theme, et al I mistakenly opted to take off the author name and comments for each post. I cannot remember where I did this. I tried to “turn on” the comments via the Word Press admin but nothing changed. So when I look at the published post, there isn’t a way for readers to comment.

How/where do I add these options back in? Do I have to deactivate my child theme and change something in the parent?

    Thanks!!

It looks like the author info is hidden by default in CSS. You can enable that easily enough by looking for in your style.css:

    .media-posted-on

Change the display type to block.

The comments, when properly configured through Settings>Discussion, appear to work fine on a default install. If you enabled comments after you created a post you will have to edit the individual post and enable comments.

I opened the style.css in the parent theme and haven’t located that “.media-posted-on” yet. I’m assuming that I make the changes you recommend in the child theme style.css? I fear by activating the child theme, I also lost the category name for my individual posts as well. I assumed all the parent attributes would continue even when activating a child theme? Thank you for the help.

Yes always make edits to the child theme only. You should not lose any formatting by switching to a child theme. It is possible that you changed something in the child theme CSS that is causing your page titles to be hidden.

Post a link to your site and I will take a look.

I can live without the author name because it’s only me. But I really want the category and tag listed for each post. Thanks, here’s the site: https://carriesheart.com/

Oh, and of course I want the comments showing for readers too ??

I fixed my comment field for individual posts. But I’m still stuck on what to do to enable the category and tags to show on the posts as well. Author not important at this point. Thanks.

Not sure what I did but I think I applied what I needed to in the WP admin. I ran a test post and the category was there. Please close, thank you!
