Can you put a Plugin on Mantra Presentation Page?

I’m using Manta theme with Presentation page enabled because I want a static home page. However, I’d really like to display upcoming calendar events on the home page using “google calendar events” plugin.

I have the plugin in my sidebar, so it’s showing on all other pages, but no sidebar on Presentation page.

I tried putting the calendar plugin in a post and then include that post via the slider, but it doesn’t display the contents of the post, only the image, with a few lines of text (doesn’t expand the short code).

Or does anybody have any other solutions for displaying live calendar data on the Presentation page?
