    G’day AdrianaU,

Looks like your premium theme isn’t playing by the WordPress rules. Because they are not free themes, I can’t look at them to see what is required to fix them. Please contact the theme creator and let them know about your problem.

    cheers,
    Ross

    Hi Ross,

It seems to be an issue with the One Theme thumbnails. When I change the setting for the thumbnails to “no” then the site will list post titles as it should. If I change it to “yes” the site does not show any thumbnails or titles. Have you run into any issues with the thumbnails before? If so do you know how it might be resolved? The site is an online magazine site. Last issue the One Theme worked without problem with the thumbnails. We have not updated the site’s theme so this issue is using the same theme as last issue with the same theme settings regarding its thumbnails. Could something in One Theme have possible gotten corrupted? I’m wondering if a fresh install would clear the problem.

    thanks,
    Adriana

G’day Adriana, most likely it’s because of web browser updates making the browsers more strict about loading insecure content. I know that Google Chrome now blocks things it used to just warn about, so maybe what you’re seeing is content being blocked since iOS 6.0.1 was released on iPhone on 12th November.

Since this is a premium theme, you should take advantage of their “support team working around the clock, happy to answer any questions or queries you may have” ??

    cheers,

    Hi Ross,

It appears the issue was a missing package that our client’s IT fellow needed to add. Here is his comment to me:

“The thumbnail issue was a problem of a missing package on the server side it seems that One Theme Mobile needed, so I added the package php-xml and now the thumbnail images are loading for the posts on the mobile site.”

So all is working as it should now. I wanted to include this solution in case anyone else is having a similar issue and could benefit from this resolution.

By the way, my client is very happy with the functionality of the plugin.

One other question. Is there a character limit in the titles of the posts? Some of the longer titles are getting cut off mid-word.

    G’day Adriana,

Good to hear that the problem is resolved. It’s unusual these days for a host to not automatically install the PHP XML extension, but I guess some are fairly conservative and only install what clients ask for.

As far as I know, there isn’t really a limit on the post title length (at least, it’s a really big limit: 65,536 bytes) so you should only see a limit in one of two cases:

    • a plugin or theme is set to truncate titles to some limit
    • your theme’s css is truncating titles

Check the HTML source in your browser to see whether the title really is being truncated. If it isn’t, then it’s a CSS problem.

    cheers,
    Ross

    Good Morning Ross,

In the browser the titles do not truncate. It’s only when we view the site on a mobile phone that we see the truncating. That is why I wondered if One Theme had a set character count allowed for titles that was being exceeded and if that was the case, if the limit could be lengthened.

    G’day Adriana,

That sounds like something you should ask the designer of your theme.

    cheers,
    Ross
