I have tried reaching al the https://codex.wordpress…. links from both Shanghai and Beijing in the last month and none are accessible. The rest of the website is fine, but not the codex links.

Now, I know that many of you outside of China are going to say “It’s China’s fault for blocking”, but I really really doubt this and think instead it’s just a DNS issue somewhere either on the WordPress side or somewhere between WordPress and China.

I was hoping maybe WP can provide an alternative URL to access the codex area. I am currently using a very slow proxy to access it…

    tks!

Great! This is a good starting point, but some pages have not been updated in a while for WP2.0. Maybe WordPress folks can make another web alias to point to the codex and then have that available…

Ah…. this is entirely a volunteer effort, I understand. You’d probably better be happy there’s anything…. I don’t know what the “wordpress folks” have in mind as to mirrors etc. Perhaps nothing.

No problem. ?? I greatly appreciate the volunteers and quick assistance.

Although I understand the remark that the user should be happy with anything I think it might be worth for the wordpress team to consider having a mirror.

The codex is indeed blocked. It may be a dns problem or it maybe is because of the fact that the sub domain “codex” is blocked for whatever trivial reason.

The fact is that there are a lot of Chinese users of WordPress and giving that a small relative number here is a big absolute number WordPress can also benefit from the input from the users.

    Just my 2 fen.

    That makes 4 fen. ??

Yes, it would be great to see a mirror, somewhere…

If it were simply a DNS issue, defining codex.www.remarpro.com as 68.142.234.44 would fix the problem and I doubt that’d fix it.

China is just retarded and blocks it. Time to move! ??
