Is there a good, fool-proof way to duplicate a wordpress install? I’m trying to create a sandbox to test stuff, but most of my efforts have generated either complete failure or broken installs that don’t run worth crud.

    Any ideas?

  • If you are using the same database etc, I believe it should be enough to edit the config.php file (change the table prefix), then copy the whole wordpress installation to an appropriate folder and hit ‘appropriatefolder/wp-admin/install.php’.

You will have to go in and activate plugins and choose the correct theme, but it will all be there.

Thanks, twat. That seems to have more or less worked. I had been trying to do a fresh install and then copy stuff over… so yeah, that didn’t work.
