• This plugin (for me anyway) seems to ignore any existing image size settings for the media (Medium, large etc) and displays the full-size image, rescaling at different browser widths.

I’d much prefer the plugin to adhere to any existing size settings for an image. For example, if someone has uploaded an image that is 4000px wide and weighs 6MB that image is displayed in the gallery and not the ‘large version’ that is set to 800x600px and is obviously much smaller in file size and load time.

Is there a setting or method of forcing the plugin to use the established media size setting?

Some more digging turns up that the WordPress native gallery by default links to the ‘full size’ version of an image. So, plugin is not doing anything different to standard WP behavior. Nevertheless, a way to link to a media size setting would be great if anyone knows how?

That’s the intended purpose of the gallery. You show thumbnails on the post page, and when user clicks on it.. they see a full image.

Well then maybe intention of the gallery script is not user friendly? While you have technical knowledge and you know what resolution of image is best for performance it is ok.

But let say you have a costumer that puts images 5000 x 5000 px. Then is it really good idea to load full image then? I’d say even more – what is the point of the link “View full image” while you’re already viewing it in carousel?

This is not anyhow intuitive, dangerous for projects (if costumer would put as big images as suggested), steals bandwidth and so on and so on…

As far as I love your plugin (or just jetpacks carousel in general) I do not agree with statement that gallery should view full images. end user clicks on a thmb to see big image – and this doesn’t have to be “full”

cheers and hope you’d find and answer – I tried to work it out but damn hard for me. This needs stronger brain than main ??
