Changing the URL without changing the file location
-
I’ve looked around for an answer to this but while there are plenty of topics and docs on moving WP, they don’t seem to cover what I need to do, which is simpler than most. Most docs assume the files are moving, and/or that the URLs are moving from root to subdomain. In my case I want to change the URLs from subdomain to root domain and I don’t want to move the files from their current subdirectory. I’m running the Thesis metatheme that might perhaps have some special considerations.
I installed WordPress in a subdirectory (../web) and set it up so that it could be accessed via https://web.mydomain.com
I now want to change it so that it is accessed via https://mydomain.com – obviously I can look after the DNS requirements.
Is there a simple way of achieving this? Which of the many “moving WordPress” documents apply, and which part of them?
Any assistance gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance,
–Richard E
