I spent many hours researching and comparing different calendars, setting up the All-in-One Event calendar, and adding recurring events to it. It had all the features I was looking for.

Except for one, it turned out. Only some posts in the blog are events; the blog also has non-event posts. Both event and non-event posts are in various categories. I use the Subscribe2 plugin to allow subscribers to subscribe to the categories they choose to subscribe to. And the All-in-One Event calendar doesn’t work with Subscribe2.

This page details the methods tried. All-in-One Event Calendar categories can’t be added to other categories, at least not with Subscribe2.

This is a major problem. We need subscribers to be able to choose from all the blog categories to subscribe to, whether they’re events or non-events. They already have this choice as we’ve been posting events in regular blog format along with our other blog posts.

Is there a way to have All-in-One event categories appear with the other blog categories? If there isn’t, I may have to scrap all the work I’ve done with this great calendar and use a different calendar instead. I haven’t been able to find another plugin that allows users to choose categories to subscribe to.

Or do you know of a category subscription plugin that works with All-in-One Event Calendar?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi writespeak,

There is an option on the WP dashboard > Calendar Settings > “Include event categories in post category lists.” Once enabled, the Event Categories will show up under the Categories list on your blog. HOWEVER, the bad news is that I tried downloading Subscribe2 and even after enabling this option the Event Categories do not appear as an option for Subscribe2.

If you like, I can get a quote from the dev team for spending some time to integrate these two plugins (so that the Event categories show up for Subscribe2). Please let me know, thanks writespeak.

Thanks for your reply. I had “Include event categories in post category lists” enabled, but as you’ve seen, the categories don’t appear in the subscribe options for Subscribe2. I’ve tried different subscription plugins, but Subscribe2 is the only one I found that lets users choose the categories to subscribe to.

This calendar is for a non-profit group (you can see the calendar here), so funding is limited. If the quote will be for a small amount, I’ll suggest it to others to see what they think. If it’s a big project, we’ll have to go with Plan B, which is to post non-recurring events in both the calendar and in regular blog posts.

You can reach me directly by choosing the “Website” option on the site contact form.

    Thanks!

    Hi writespeak,

I am going to mark this thread as resolved as we have not heard from for four weeks.

re: “There is an option on the WP dashboard > Calendar Settings > “Include event categories in post category lists.” Once enabled, the Event Categories will show up under the Categories list on your blog.”

I have checked that box and yet Event Categories don’t show up under the Categories list on my site: https://centraloregontrailhorse.com

    Help?
