• Hi,

I have my own dedicated server, running WHM/cPanel. I host a number of WordPress sites on this server.

I would like to upgrade MySql from version 5 to version 5.5. Is there any danger/risk to any of my currently hosted WordPress sites by doing so? My understanding is that upgrading MySql is really a one-way street and no easy way to go back. Considering I’m hosting quite a number of WordPress sites, I’m afraid of doing the upgrade until I know 100% before doing so that there will zero effect on these sites.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Regards,

    DC

  • All latest versions of MySql is supported by wordpress. So, you don’t need to affraid.
But yeah, You should backup your database via any plugin, So you can restore if something goes wrong.
