I’m getting sometimes WordPress error screen:
    ERROR ESTABLISHING A DATABASE CONNECTION

It’s happening when I’m trying to add new post but than when I refresh the page everything works normally than.

Until I try to add new post or it works directly or I get the error page and that’s also happening when I’m pressing on the “Add new post” button that is in the “Posts” page.

I already tried to optimize and fix the database using /wp-admin/maint/repair.php , the results of the repair are all OK

I’m not having this problem when browsing the website on the fronted.
Please note that I started noticing this problem after updating from 3.4.1 to 3.4.2.

    Any Idea.

    Thanks

  • Have you asked your hosts about this? It sounds like your server might be overloaded.

I though about it but I didn’t really ask because I was quite convinced that is a website problem as it started to show up after updating WordPress.

Anyway I will check it out and I will let you know.

Are you excluding that it maybe a plugin or update problem?

Due to the intermittent nature of the problem, it sounds more like a server issue but you could try:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Just ensure that follow your caching plugin’s documentation when you deactivate it.
