I seem to keep running in to problems on mulitsite where a sub-domain that was working becomes inaccessible and I get

    1. referred to cgi-bin at Index \

    2. then a 403 error.

and then I cant access the sub-domain from WP either. I cant get to the dashboard.

I did post another problem earlier in which I asked how clean an installation has to be to start of over. Where is the innermost repository of sub-domains located, if not in mysql?

    That’s a server issue.

Your subdomains aren’t pointing at the right location if they show index.

    Thank you Ipstenu,

I have had sites up on html for years and I don’t want to lose those links, but nevertheless I think a clean installation and fresh WP multisite using the same page links is probably the root I should go.

Much less work now than later.
