• I have a question… this may be more suited to the Yoast SEO plugin i’m using ???

Let’s say I make up a custom taxonomy (let’s call it ‘waggles’) and assign a custom term/tag to that taxonomy (let’s call it ‘doowop’), BUT, I don’t assign the custom tag to a post.

Will this custom tag be indexed by Google?
Will this custom tag be included in a sitemap?
What if I make a template page called ‘taxonomy-waggles.php’ I can view the custom tag by going to https://www.mywebsite.com/waggles/doowop, but because the doowop tag isn’t assigned to a post or page will it get included in a sitemap and therefore indexed by Google?

    thanks heaps
    Pete

    Apparently not in Yoast’s SEO

You have been provided with an option to get index your custom tag in Yoast’s SEO plugin. just visit Yoast SEO Plugin panel > Titles & metas > Taxonomy. If you don’t want your custom tags to be indexed check “nofindex , follow” below tags.

With sitemap If you are using Yoast’s XML sitemap, check “tags” in Exclude taxonomies box which will exclude tags from sitemap.
