• Hi, I installed wampserver succesfully on my 64 bit Windows 7 and installed wordpress on it too. Everything went off smoothly and I was able create a local site with it. But the problem came when I used WAMP the next time. I was able to visit the local site through localhost but I am unable to access the wordpress dashboard. Am I doing something wrong? Or how do I access the wordpress dashboard so that I can tweak the theme?

  • Unable to access the dashboard in what why? What are the details?

I mean I cannot access the wordpress dashboard from wampserver installed in my PC.

I think what s_ha_dum might be asking you is, in what way specifically, can you not access the dashboard? Some possible scenarios might be:

    • You can’t get to /wp-admin using //localhost/wp-admin, or //localhost/login, or //localhost/wp-login.php
    • You can reach the login page, but you get some type of error messsage. ie.. wrong password, username doesn’t exist. etc…
    • You can access the login page, but you get an error message or a just a blank page after loging in.

Share a little detail about what is, or isn’t happening. That might be helpful in determining what the problem might be.

Thanks ClaytonJames for making it clear. I don’t get any error message as such. I doubt I am accessing WAMP in a wrong way. Well, when I start the wampserver, I get an icon on the notification bar which turns red to orange and finally to green. I access it by clicking the icon and then local host on the topmost which lands me on the wampserver homepage. On the page under “Your Projects”, I have “Project1” which I have created. Clicking upon Project1 leads me to a page which lists two directories: the first one says Parent directory and the other wordpress. Further, clicking on wordpress takes me directly to the local site I have created without giving me the trouble to log in through the wordpress dashboard. This is the problem I am facing now since I want to test and tweak the theme I installed. Help me out!

What happens when you choose the wordpress directory, and then add /wp-admin to the end of the url in the browser?

By adding /wp-admin as in localhost/Project 1/wordpress/wp-admin, the browser takes me directly on the google search page.

the browser takes me directly on the google search page.

Avoid using spaces in your directory names. I suspect you have some sort of issue with the sub-directories. There also really isn’t any need to install wordpress two sub-directories deep in WAMP.

You might try installing wordpress at /www/wordpress. Then your path to wp-admin will simply be //localhost/wordpress/wp-admin

Thanks a lot Clayton, I’ll do as you suggest. I will get back to you again soon. Thanks once again.

    hi!
    sir,
i can reach the login page, but yoi get some type of error messsage. ie.. wrong password, username doesn’t exist. etc. during login.

how can access my dash board

    my local host url is

    https://localhost:8080/kamal/wp-admin

after login i am geting that error,

    (1) I installed a Contact Form widget. I added a new page and want to insert the codes into the new page. I need to change to mode from <Visual> to <html>, then I discovered that I don’t have the tag <html> but <text> . What should I do? FYI, I use WAMPSERVER, tried it on Windows XP and Windows 7, Template=<Front Page Template>

    (2) I added another new page (the 2nd page) and typed something on it, also added menu and calendar. I pressed <Update>. When I press <View Page> (in middle column) or <Preview Changes> (at right hand side), a new web page pops up saying

    “Not Found
The requested URL /cls/cheoy-lee-shipyards/about-cheoy-lee/ was not found on this server.”

    What should I do?

    FYI , the 1st page URL is <https://localhost/cls/wp-admin/post.php?post=4&action=edit&gt;, when I press <View Page> I can view the web mode and its URL changed to <https://localhost/cls/&gt;

    Sir,
I installed wordpress in wamp succesfully but when i go for login page after that.
