Exclude parent page from sidebar

  • Hi.
    Can anybody please tell me how to exclude a parent page from sidebar navigation but without excluding child pages? Can this be done?
    I have already tried to exclude the page in the widget using its id but child pages also dissapearing.
    (Ps. I am not a developer/programmer nor have any knowledge on how to edit or modify an element by using code).
