  • Hi there maaraujo. The plugin as it stands actually doesn’t use shortcodes; the calendar is automatically created at /events (assuming you’re using permalinks), and that location can be changed as you see fit under Events -> Settings. If you wanted more customization over how events are displayed you should take a look at our template tag documentation, as detailed at https://tri.be/support/documentation. Those template tags provide generally the same level of flexibility as shortcodes and should get you where you want to be.

Hope that helps. Let me know if not, and I’ll follow-up as needed from there. Otherwise thanks for your patience and support so far.

Since I never heard back from you here, maaraujo, I’m going to assume you got this sorted based on my last note, and will mark the thread RESOLVED because of it. If you disagree here or find you still have questions please let me know. Thanks again for your support and use of The Events Calendar.

Are shortcodes a possibility? I’m using Thesis, and there are issues with getting my theme and the calendar to show up on the same page. If I could take a regular page and add shortcodes instead to display the calendar content, that would be a solution for those of us who don’t have the knowledge to recode the theme and plugin to make them work together.

    Doc

Hey there Doc. I realize it’s been a bit of time since you posted this; apologies for the delayed reply on our end. Sadly we do not have shortcodes available in the plugin at the moment…it would just require such a change to the overall plugin structure we’ve never felt it totally warranted.

Are the template tags themselves deeper than you’d be willing to jump? I’m curious if there’s documentation we could provide that would make folks in your situation more comfortable jumping into it.

I believe people are looking to use shortcodes because they may not have the know how to edit / create new templates. Either way, as a developer, I still rather use shortcodes, over having to create a template to display something, it’s just faster and easier.

I hope you guys add shortcodes in the future.

Considering shortcodes are one of the best features of WordPress and very widely used throughout the entire community, one has to wonder why your team has “never felt it totally warranted.”

I’d agree with Brad – as a developer with the ability to use templates, I’d still much rather use short codes than spend 20 minutes digging through your functions list trying to figure out how to do simple things.

Hi everyone – thanks for the feedback. Do feel free to make use of our feature request page and we’ll definitely give this due consideration:
