• So my site has changed a bit since i first made it and used your plugin to disable comments.
I’m not trying to enable comments, but nothing seems to work. First your plugin was deactivated, and then removed.
I’ve gone back in and enabled comments for each post/page etc. I’ve made sure screen options include the discussion box.

But no one can comment. In fact admin can only comment by going in to edit the page/post. When logged in admin doesnt even see an option when viewing a page/post to be able to comment.

Did I miss something I needed to do?

    Hi,

Do you have a caching plugin installed? It sounds like you need to reset/invalidate your cache.

Ok, So I’ve gotten back into the mix and have tried to figure out the problem on my site. I do not have any caching plugin installed. I never have.

I think some other plugin along the way changed something and thats why trying to undo this isnt working. This also appears to have the problem of rendering a bbpress/buddypress install non functional since no user can ever comment on anything.

Can you let me know the exact code in the PHP that is changed when this plugin is activated so that I can manually go and try to undo that change? I dont have a clue where to start.

BTW… I’ve tried the fixes you’ve listed in the support forum. I’ve tried doing bulk edit and doing it individually. It still doesnt change anything.
(I have captures of my admin page showing this I can send you to prove this, but I’d rather not post them publicly)

    Hi,

The plugin doesn’t change any code anywhere when it is activated. All it does it dynamically filter the status of posts to indicate that comments are closed.

It looks like something has caused a permanent change in your case, but I can’t say what. There may have been a conflict with another plugin or your theme.

I can’t really offer any more help without seeing specific details of your site. If you would like me to try, please email me a link to your site and the screen captures you mention above.

Im having this same exact problem. How do I reset/invalidate the cache.???

Ive also tried the fixes you’ve listed in the support forum. I’ve tried doing bulk edit and doing it individually. It still doesnt change anything.

How to reset the cache depends on which caching plugin you are using.

I can’t offer much more help without more details about your specific site, because this is not a common issue. Email me at the link given in my previous post if you want further help.

For anyone else reading this thread, the issue with knoxhomesandrealty was to do with their theme, which had a setting to enable/disable the display of comments.
