• I’m sure this should exist already but after some searching I haven’t found it.

Is there a tutorial / step by step guide to optimising a WP install for speed?

My site piwiwiwi.co.nz is drastically slow and various friends / techies give me all types of conflicting advice. These forums offer lots of little bits of useful advice but has anyone tried to summarise it into a ‘Try these 10 things first’ or similar?

    Thanks, N ??

    • Try to replace .jpg images with .png
    • Move JavaScript to the footer, perhaps with a plugin

Checked you out at https://www.webpagetest.org ..For a Wellington NZ location using IE9, they report initial load at 18.2 seconds… For LA, initial load time was 11.8 secs.

From either location, WPT report gives you an A on image compression, but you flunked “First Byte” time (whatever that means) and Static Content caching, but have not had enough experience with either to be of any help.

WPTest nay give you a starting point…Cool site by the way.
