Show summary not whole article

  • I want my blogs to show smaller pages with summaries or extracts
    of the articles so I changed the setting in Options/Reading to ‘For each article show summary – but it doesn’t make any difference.

    What am I missing?

  • That summary affects the blog’s RSS feed, not what you see.

    You need to use the ‘more’ tag.

    In 1.5.2 lok at the tags above the post area, and click the ‘more’ tag. Place what appears where you wish the break to appear.
    In 2.0, look at the small icon which looks like a split page. And do the same thing.

    Is that what you mean ?

    Or to show smaller content, use the_excerpt() instead of the_content() in your theme ..
