[Plugin: Category Icons] Show category_description in widget

Hi.

There is a filter that you could use. Put this in your functions.php :
add_filter(‘category_icons_widget’,’bm_test’);

function bm_test($list) {
echo $list;
}

The echo displays the widget, but you have to write some code to do what you want to alter the $list.

Quick question/clarification: I can use your function to echo whatever I want after the entire widget, but I’m trying to echo each category’s description in the respective cat-item li… so each li within the widget displays the thumbnail, the category title, and the category description.

Any leads? Seems like it should be straightforward, I’m just having trouble making it work. Thanks again, really appreciate any help…

Like I said, you need to do a parser, or, simpler, do your own widget. Maybe this’ll be a good start : https://www.category-icons.com/2010/02/how-to-display-category-icons-side-by-side/

You just have to add category_description and get_cat_name next to get_cat_icon.
