WordPress Image Upload 'Crunching' Not Resizing Images

Greetings!

I’m running into an issue while uploading images to a WordPress site that I’ve taken over support for.

When an image is uploaded, it gets stuck on “Crunching…” and nothing else happens.

When you visit the Media Library, there are entries with no title “(no title)” and no other information.

It creates a post in the database and when I connect to the server the file seems to have uploaded, but no other sizes are generated.

I’m not getting an HTTP error. But I am seeing this in the logs:
[warn] Cannot get media type from ‘x-mapp-php5’

I’ve been searching all morning and can’t seem to find a fix anywhere on the internet.

So now I’m trying here in hopes that one of you clever WP folks can give me any insights.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
