Fixed size slideshow with varying size images?

    I’m new to these waters and very non-technical so please be gentle. I’ve tried searching the same question but not come up with any answers.

    I’m looking for a way of creating a slideshow that will work like the one in the wordpress.com version such that the slideshow frame/box stays the same size but that the images are re-sized to match (i.e. scaled to width or height of box, whichever comes first).

    I’ve installed and tinkered with at least six different plug-ins that have come highly rated and sound like they’ll do what I’m after, only to find they’ll do one or the other but not both. Any suggestions?
