• Hi. I know very little about html, and on accident I hit the HTML view tab that’s next to the Visual view tab when trying to edit one of my pages. Now, I can’t get it to go back to the Visual view. Hitting the tab does nothing. I’ve logged in with Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari and nothing fixes the problem. I saw this problem asked and fixed in a forum that was closed 3 years ago, but I don’t understand any of it. For example, what’s tinymce? Can anyone please help me?

Which version of WordPress have you?

3.4.1-i was using a lower version when the problem started, so I immediately upgraded thinking that would fix the problem, but that did nothing.

I use the Livepuse theme-if that makes a difference.

There are literally thousands of WordPress themes – which means that many people won’t be familiar with your particular theme. So a link to your site where people can see the theme might result in more responses.

First, check that you haven’t disabled the rich-text editor in your Profile.

?? that was one of the first things i checked!

    but that wasn’t it…

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of your current version of WordPress.

yes-i’ve tried deactivating all plugins and that didn’t work

I’m going to try switching themes now-if I switch to the wordpress theme-will that delete my old one?

No. You can re-activate your old theme at any time.

OMG thank you! That worked! You are amazing! So then, I went BACK to the Livepuse theme that I have and now the Visual tab works just fine with that theme again! Weird, huh? I wonder what the problem could have been between the theme and wordpress to be able to fix itself?

It could have been a minor database issue or it may be a problem with the theme. If so, it may re-occur at some point in the future. Glad to hear that you have your Visual tab back for now, though. ??
