• Greetings. I have been having an issue with my wordpress installation.

When I make a new post, and when I update a post, text will be randomly changed in the post to insert my domain name.

    In essence, if I write:

“This is a test post. Here is some example text.”

and hit publish, what might come out is:

“This is a tewww.squidzone.cas some example text.”

I have been unable to diagnose why this is happening or how to make it stop. It doesn’t happen every time, although easily 90% plus on my posts now. Sometimes I can use tricks like spacing and HTML comments to make it move to a non-visible spot.

Cutting and pasting the raw html to a new article sometimes makes it go away, but any update will bring it right back.

I have tried running database clean up / consistency checking tools and it comes out clean.

I have tried a complete reinstall, and it comes back.

You can see an example of this on https://www.squidzone.ca/?p=1287 in the list, item 3, bold text.

Nobody with any answer/suggestion on this?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Tried this last night:

    – built completely new machine with clean OS
    – installed clean the minimum stuff required to run wordpress on Apache under Ubuntu 12.04, including a clean mysql… no plugins other than what comes with it and the import tool.
    – created new databases for wordpress to use
    – passed all the obvious checks for functionality
    – exported my blog to an XML file with the wordpress exporter
    – imported into clean environment
    – updated the post that is linked above to eliminate the inserted domain name

The bug persists on the new system.

It does seem to be related to the total number of characters in the post up to the point it appears since I can make it move around with insertion of HTML comments. Given enough jiggery-pokery, I can make it land inside comment tags, but that’s a real PITA to do.

I’m sorry but this appears to be specific to your install, so I can only assume that it’s a server issue.
