media loading is slow or non existnant

  • I have just joined wordpress and have used it for the last three days. Every day I try to add 2 images, but the download seems to get stuck at between 7-15%. I am spending far too long try to re-load again and again – yesterday at least 40-50 minutes just trying to get the images loaded. It took so long, I set up a new tumblr account and downloaded all my images and text in less time than wordpress is taking to load 1 image. What is the problem wordpress? Do I need to move my site somewhere else. And where do I go to get some help with this???

  • Does this happen with all images?
    How large (in terms of file size) are these images?
    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Hi esmi,
    I have deactivated and deleted all plug-ins (which had not yet been activated at all).
    I have tried several different themes, and still suffering same problem.
    Photos are taken on my iphone 3G and put onto computer with no alterations made to images.
    Some images upload instantly, whilst others are taking me hours of constantly re-trying to load them into the media album.
    One image took me two days so far.
    I love everything else about wordpress and my site, but am very frustrated with this – I just don’t have the hours it’s taking to upload spare to sit re-trying again and again…
    Help please.

    Today I was unable to upload any of the images for my blog – which is really unfortunate, as it is meant to be a site to display a daily visual art piece:

    I chose a (paid) host site and wordpress as I thought it would be more professional and reliable than other free blog sites – such as tumblr etc.
    However, currently the above problem still exists and is not being resolved – whilst I am able to publish quickly and easily to the free sites.
    Can anyone tell me how to ask wordpress for some help and support on this issue – as I can’t see where to access any more help and i’m not getting anywhere on my own very fast ??
    Please help if you can…

    What is the size of the images? Did you try to optimize them?
