• AOL Online Status Indicator 0.5.1

Display an icon and the current status of an AIM account using AOL’s Presence server.

This is not a new plug-in. Building on the work of Jarno Ristaniemi and Clay Smith I’ve added an options page to allow you to set all the options from within wordpress.

If you have a current version of the plug-in installed, you can upgrade to this one by dropping the file in your wp-content/plugins dir but you will have to then go to the Options page and set your options.

Details, downloads and install instructions can be found here.

As always, comments are welcome.

Always happens, I forget something. Thanks to Ravi Udeshi for pointing out the bug to me. The current version is 0.5.2. If you downloaded earlier, grab this one and just drop in place.

for anyone who wants to remove the AIM image [it’s given me nothing but problems.. its indicating wrong], remove this img tag from line 68:

<img src=”https://api.oscar.aol.com/SOA/key=’ . $ols_settings[‘aim_key’] . ‘/presence/’ . $ols_settings[‘account_name’] . ‘ border=”0″/>

It doesn’t appear like you can register for Presense using a .Mac account as your AOLIM signin….anyone find a way around this?

Could anyone pleae help with this plug-in? I seem to have a problem activating it. I upload the file onto my plugins directory and click Activate and this is what comes up:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/mariel/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/online-status.php:92) in /home/mariel/public_html/blog/wp-admin/admin.php on line 10

Does anyone have a way to fix this problem? Thank you.

New Version available 0.5.3

This one has been checked with WordPress 2.0.

– New: Show Image checkbox.
You can now decide whether to show the image from AOL. The default for this option is OFF so is you install this version and want to show the image you will need to go to the options page and enable it.

Sorry you’ve had a problem with the image. This version includes a checkbox on the options tab to allow you to decide whether you want to display the image or not. If you choose not to it does not make the status a link, it simply displays the status. Let me know if this works for you.

Check the very top of the online-status.php and the very bottom. Make sure there are no extra lines above the <?PHP and no lines below the ?>

Let me know if this solves your problem.

The link on your homepage still direct to Version 0.5.2. I can’t find 0.5.3 on your website.

In case anyone’s interested, I just finished another AIM-related plugin: AIMpost.

elmsblog

(@elmsblog)

I keep getting an “unknown” status on my blog. The icon seems to be accurate however (online/ offline/ away/ etc.) Do I need to customize the code at all or open a port on my router for the Presence server to recognize it or something? I’m confused.

Thanks.
