Not tested, but backup your themes index.php and replace it with a duplicate of your category.php re-named index.php.

Yeah, that theme, but there’s a slightly newer version out.

Remove this from your stylesheet:

.news #content {
     width: 640px;
}

or replace it with:

.news #content {
     width: 100%;
}

Hmm, that works if I disable my child theme, but if I have my child theme enabled–even if EVERYTHING in the stylesheet is commented out–it still goes back to two per page.

I also lose most of the menu at the top if I turn my child theme off and use the edited style.css…

Don’t disable your child theme. put this in your child theme stylesheet (style.css):
