• 2.0-RC1 is looking pretty sweet.

Installed it a few times already – just to play.

    Found these problems.

First, trying out the new blog post import tool from an RSS feed file: it will allow you to import the posts. Works best from another WordPress blog. But, a strange occurence – when they import from some other feeds – the posts come in fine. However, when you go to the admin area to delete one (or all) they do delete there – but! they don’t disappear from the blog. Very strange.

So, now I have a blog with lots of posts. And when I go to the admin area, I only have the one “Hello World” post.

Second, I guess we’ll be upgrading to 1.6 before going to 2.0. Just for fun, I tried to upgrade a 1.5.2 blog (don’t worry, just a test blog) to 2.0. The metauser table – which is added in 1.6? – doesn’t exist so you can’t go straight to 2.0 from 1.5.2. I’m sure no one is surprised. But thought it might be good to warn others since I’ve noticed that many want to start using the RC1 version. I wouldn’t.

It will be a great platform when finished, I’m sure. Great work folks!

  • No idea about the RSS import/delete issue, but as for the rest, 1.6 was just the development and alpha version # for what is going to be 2.0. In other words, 1.6 = 2.0. So 1.5.2 users better be able to upgrade to it…

(I’ve already upgraded a couple 1.5.2 blogs to 2.0 beta, and both had no issues with the usermeta table).

Thank you, Kafkaesqui. Good to know.

As for the upgrade, I will have to look at that upgrade again then. Sorry I didn’t save the error message it displayed. When I try it again I’ll post the message, should it reappear.
