[Plugin: Contact Form 7] Massive spam problem

I got hit hard yesterday too.
I’ve been using Askimet which works when I try ‘viagra’ in the subject line, but didn’t stop the massive flow of spam.
I added the quiz which took care of it, but I really wish the Askimet solution would work.

Thanks for the response. Glad to know we weren’t the only ones. I installed the “Really Simple CAPTCHA” and “Sabre” plugin to add an option to type in a random set of letters and numbers in hopes of preventing the bots from getting through. It worked for about an hour and continued back up, but not as frequent.

I’m willing to try out Askimet as they have a set of code you can add to the Contact Form 7 code. Think it is worth it at $5 a month?

Askimet has been very helpful for blog comment spam. Totally worth it for that. I’m not finding that it’s helped with this issue though.
For all I know it has helped in the past & it just failed me yesterday. Again – if I try to use really obvious words like “viagra” it does catch it. The stuff I got yesterday was much more clever

I hate CAPTCHAs but the quiz seem to do the trick. I just have to trust that people know the answer to 1+1 ??

I’m in the process of setting up Cloudflare (https://www.cloudflare.com/) I’m hoping that it might help with this.
