  • This problem also exists in older ie7 & ie8. The X to close the carousel was in the correct spot. However, the pictures are off to the left and they have a gray transparent layer over them. They look pretty bad.

The jetpack carousel is a very nice way to view pics. does anyone have a fix for this problem?

this link describes the problem better and provides pics. In IE7, IE8 the carousel actually displays the wrong picture over the top out the correct pic. scrolling down on the carousel (to view comments) will reveal your picture that’s hidden behind the incorrect pic.

If no fix is possible, another solution might be to disable carousel completely if the browser is detected as IE7, IE8. Then newer browsers get the carousel and older ones just use the standard wordpress gallery. any thoughts on where to put that check?

I’m having the same problem. Any news on how to fix this?

Unfortunately, the link above doesn’t seem to be active anymore. Could you post some screenshots, so I can better understand the issue?

    Thank you!

I think this is not an issue for internet explorer 7&8 for a while. I re-tested now with:
    wp 3.5.1
    JetPack 2.1.1

The gallery now displays the images fine for me.

here are some screenshots of what we see.

just tested on my brand new Dell computer,
which is running Windows 7 and IE8 and I get the same thing.
So it does not work on Windows XP or Windows 7 under IE8.

i have disabled the carousel and mosaic functions till Jetpack fixes the gallery issues it has on IE.

and here is the screen shot for when you actually click on a image:

that pic is exactly how it used to look like for me in ie8. I wonder if it could be a version problem. what wordpress and jetpack versions are you running?

    wordpress 3.5.1. and Jetpack 2.1.1

Well, that looks like a bug indeed. As @rfblanchard, we fixed a similar issue a few months ago (see r617726).

I tried to reproduce on IE8, and everything seemed to be displayed properly:

Could you try toggling the compatibility view on and off, and see if that helps?

Could you also try to deactivate the cache in WP Super Cache?

OK. I have turned on again carousel so you can test it and see what the problem is.

I have also turned off WP Cache

    Thanks!

I had another look, and the gallery seems to be displayed properly on my end:

However, I noticed that you mentioned Compatibility view at the top of the gallery; did it solve the problem for you?

If you still experience issues, could you switch to a theme like Twenty Twelve for a few minutes? It would allow us to make sure the problem doesn’t come from a conflict between Jetpack and the libraries included in your theme.

Hi, it works with the compatibility on, but we would like it to work without having to turn that on. Regarding turning off the theme is not an option. What I can do is provide you with the theme files for you to review or a temporary access to our blog.

    We are using:

Could you send the theme files to [email protected], so we can have a look at your theme?

    Thanks!
