• Whenever I link to another post in a post, for some reason it leaves a comment on the post I’ve linked to referring to the post I had placed a link on to it.

Did that make sense? The comment icon also looks a little different, a trackback maybe? How do I stop this from happening?

I’m using the Blix theme. Thanks.

  • Yes, these sound like self-inflicted trackbacks.
Goto WP Admin > Options > Discussion
Untick “Attempt to notify any Weblogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)”

Bye Bye to your own trackbacks. ?? Of course, this also means that you’ll never leave a trackback on another site, but how often do you anyway?

Actually you are incorrect, What that disables are pingbacks, NOT trackbacks. They are not the same thing.

Better still, when you refer to one of your own posts, rather than entering the full link like this:

    <a href="https://www.yoursite.com/wordpress/2005/12/03/postname">See post</a>

    do it like this:

    <a href="/wordpress/2005/12/03/postname">See post</a>

That won’t stop you sending trackbacks or pingbacks elsewhere, but will stop you pinging yourself.

I stand corrected. Thankyou for pointing out my error, I always thought that also disabled trackbacks.

Ah, Les … how would I got about getting the link to the post like you’ve suggested?
