Questions on the folder architecture for a wp site
-
Just getting started learning WP but do have web experience. I’m about to make the decision on the sites folder architecture and could use some advice.
I understand wp is installed in a folder that doesn’t necessarily have to be the root (i.e. could be a subfolder). Is there any wisdom on which architecture to choose? There’s only going to be one hosted site in the root area. (I do have another host area where there are multiple “sites” but I’ll ask about that in a later post).
One thought is to have a folder structure outside the folder with wp installed to take advantage of being able to organize the non-wp folder structure and leave the wp structure “native”. This means I could store much of the media outside the wp folder and link to it.
Sorry if I’m not asking a very specific question. I’m early in the wp learning curve.
Maybe the question is “what are the best site folder architectures for wp sites”?
Thanks
Tom
