best themes or plugin for catalogue?

I am trying to set up a website for a friend who runs a nursery. Not currently for ecommerce, maybe later. Using Coraline theme, with catablog plug-in. Really would like to acheive something like this https://www.avantgardensne.com/catalog/category.cgi
Before I get too far into this project, should I be using a different theme? I have no need for any of the blog aspects of a site.
Most of the photo gallery themes didn’t seem to have text attached to photos, which I need (not rollover).
