How do I edit the email that automatically goes out to subscribers, to only include a blurb and not the entire posting?

What I mean is: I subscribed to my own blog using the SUBSCRIBE button on the right bar. When I posted my latest post this morning:
“Writing During Production: The Development of Sundance Darling BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD (Q & A Screening)” I immediately received an email with the entire article.

Is there a setting somewhere where I can tell WordPress to only email out a blurb, so that a subscriber would have to click on a link to my site in the email to read the entire article.

Point being, I want subscribers to have to click into my site, not get the entire article through email every time I post.

I can’t seem to find that setting anywhere.

If not, then is there a different “Subscribe” plugin that anyone could suggest that would allow me to do this? I’m currently using the WordPress one that comes with Jetpack. Thanks.

Thanks for responding … however I’m confused. That link leads to a question: “How to change the default registration email?”

    I don’t think that’s what I’m trying to do.

What I’m trying to change is: when someone subscribes to my blog, and then I write a new post, an email is sent out to them notifying them of the new post. But right now, it includes the entire post in that email.

I want the email to just include a blurb, an excerpt of the post, similar to what shows up in the “slider” near the top of my website, so if they want to read the entire article, they have to click a link in the email that leads to my website.

Again, I’m a novice wordpress website builder, just teaching myself here, so I need things spelled out pretty simply. Thanks.
