    Plugin: comment quicktags
    Theme: gila
    WP Version: 1.5.2

Using Urchin stats (cpanel hosted site), and have noticed that comment_quicktags.php is receiving very high hits/access. It appears to be loading almost as often as my main page. Below is a copy/paste of stats.

    1. / 658 12.36%
    2. /wp-content/plugins/comment_quicktags.php 633 11.89%

As you can see, the top two pages by hits are my main page, and the comment_quicktags. I’m just wondering if this is normal, and/or if there is anything I can do do fix this issue. No other plugins seem to be having this problem.

    Thanks.

  • Could your theme be calling the quicktags file? Otherwise it isn’t called except in the admin section.

I looked through the theme, and I see no calls, includes, or requires to the quicktags file. I’m positive I haven’t visiting my plugins admin page 633 times in one week. Even then, I don’t think Urchin (not through google analytics) shows a file unless it’s directly accessed. Strange.

You, like me, have the comment quicktags plugin and like me, it’s the highest hit file.

If someone comes to your site and views a single post (such as from a search engine or a feed), that file will load.
    If someone comments, it loads.
If someone reads the comments, it loads.

If every time your blog was viewed it also called index.php then that number would be higher. But when an archive is viewed, although index.php is actually used the browser delivers something like https://www.example.com/archive/name-of-post so it counts that as a hit. But comment quickags in an external file to the index so it loads – and registers in the stats – every single time.

    Nothing to worry about ??
