• Searching through the forums it seems that a number of people have this, or a similar, problem without getting any satisfactory solution.

I have a client who is using WordPress 3.4.1 in IE9 on Windows 7. She writes a post, hits the preview button, decides to make some changes and hits the publish button. At this point the text of the post disappears.

The content of all of the revisions for the post is also gone.

It would appear that this is an intermittent problem. From my computer with the same IE9/Win 7 setup I have been unable to reproduce the it; if I could I would try to narrow it down by trying the default theme or disabling plugins.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

I’ve done a re-install; but, as I can’t reproduce the problem on my computer, disabling plugins or themes makes no difference. As it seems to be an intermittent problem we can’t tell that disabling plugins makes a difference on the end user’s computer either.

Has the user tried using another computer?
