• I am trying to edit a page on my website and when I make updates to the visual view and then switch to HTML, the code truncates leaving only a couple of images. When I switch back to ‘visual’ view everything is gone as well. I would like to make updates to the page but can’t do it without using the ‘Visual view’. Also if I make updates just to the ‘visual view’ and then click ‘preview changes’ I find the content has also disappeared. Can anyone help or does anyone know why this is happening?

  • I tend to avoid using both visual and HTML editors, as switching between both does truncate the content (for example, the visual view will modify the line breaks and add <p> tags).

I would strongly suggest you to stick with one editor (preferably the html). For what tasks are you using the Visual editor for? As far as i know, you can do almost everything from the HTML editor (manually or with the toolbar).

Thank you for your advice Patv and usually I just stick with the Visual Editor. I’ve been uploaded a combination of text and images to the page, adding to this over the months, so I’m not sure if that is what is causing the problem. However, even if I just use the visual editor to make my changes (without consulting the HTML View) and then click ‘Preview Changes’ most of the page will disappear. What is strange is that this has never happened before when I’ve previously added some images and text to the page. I wondered if it was a bug with the latest upgrade of WP? Would be great if you have any further advice.

Have you tried creating a new page and adding mock content to it to see if you can recreate the problem?

No I will try that – thank you!
