[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Can't reorder Galleries in an album

I’m using WP 3.4.1 and NextGen Gallery 1.9.3 and I’m having issues with displaying the galleries in an album.
I have selected the Custom order for sort thumbnails on the Gallery tab of Options, I have deactivated all other plugins and tried the different code snippets found in the support boards here and all have the same result.
When I choose the album on the album page and click and drag to reorder the galleries , then click update and receive the “album updated” message, there is no change in the sort order on the page housing the album.
I feel like I’m missing something simple, but I can’t find it.
