Missing body tag?

    Hi, I want to impliment a certain code on my webpage, but in order to do so, it says I need to replace the body tag on my index page. My site is in wordpress, and I went to the directory of the theme I’m using (default) and went to put the code there but there is no body tag…What do I do?
