Site running extremely slow.

  • Hi everyone,

    My name is Chaz and I run my business on https://www.vicioushistory.com. It is an online clothing company that is hosted by GoDaddy and run on WordPress with an eCommerce shop run by BigCartel. My site has been loading extremely slow, usually taking 30+ seconds to load a single page. The SHOP page runs fast because it is hosted on BigCartel but every other page runs very slow. Even when I’m in my control panel or dashboard, WordPress runs extremely slow. It takes me 20-30 seconds just to load the new post page or upload an image. I talked to my hosting and they don’t seem to think it’s on their end. They told me that I have unlimited bandwidth and I’m not using very much of the disk space I have. Does anyone know what might be causing this or have anything I could try to fix it?

  • The good news is that I am browsing your site from the UK and it’s nice and fast. I have had this issue with my own site(s) sometimes, when I find it slow – but everyone else finds it OK. Weird.

    Anyway, bottom line is that it’s genuinely OK (indeed, fast) on this side of the pond.

    PS – What cart are you using?

    I have the same issue. Seems to me mine is especially slow in the admin side. Sometimes noticeable on the other pages as well. I was wondering if it was a plugin causing this as I don’t remember it being like this when I started. I have no cart as I do not sell anything. Also it does not seem to matter what browser FF or Chrome as both do it pretty equally.

    Yeah it’s odd. Is it all the time – or just sometimes?

    Its pretty consistent. I have thought about reloading the entire thing and starting over since I know I have added and uninstalled several plugins. Some I didn’t care for once I started dealing with them or I found one I liked better etc. I saw that wp-super-cache but haven’t tried it did you try it? If so did you notice any difference?

    I did try it on one site. It worked and I did notice a difference. There are so many plugins that I forget which ones I should install with every customer site. I need a system or a script to install all my fav plugins – I’d like to know how to do that someday…
