Adding a WP blog to a WP Commercial Site

  • Greetings. Total newb here, and I apologize if this is a duplicate subject, but I couldn’t find the exact issue.

    I recently started a commercial site using WP on an independent server, and I wanted to start an associated blog. Unfortunately, I have no idea if I can do this from the same Dashboard or if I have to create a “blog.(myurl).com” entry somewhere and attach it.

    If I simply start adding posts, will my landing page, the commercial entry, remain the same? I can add a link on any number of pages to the blog area. I just don’t want the blog entries to supercede my index page.

    If I have to create a separate directory for the blog.~ entry, how the heck do I do that?
