New webmaster to existing wp site

    Dear everyone,
    I am very new to WordPress and have been assigned my first task. I need to update an existing site, but I am unsure, how I can access the site. I mean, shall I start with the 5 min installation? Is there any step to step guide about where to start, so I update the site from my own computer. I have all the information abt FTP and MySQL.
