If it says you already have jpegtran (and are only missing optipng and gifsicle), then there is no install to do, so long as you don’t care about optimizing PNGs or GIFs. You can simply activate the plugin, go to your Media Library, and start optimizing images. You can optionally run the Bulk Optimize option found under the Media menu. All future JPGs will automatically be optimized upon upload.

should also mention that there are instructions for gifsicle and optipng over on the Installation page, but you need to have shell/ssh/command-line access to your server to do anything with the instructions.

    ah! that explains it!

so it looks like the plugin works like a charm and was super easy to use too! thanks!

Any way to get rid of the notice at the top saying I do not have optipng & gifsicle installed?

Yes, there’s a checkbox on the Settings page that you can use to turn off the notice (the one that says skip utils check).

    for cent os

    yum install optipng
    yum install gifsicle
    yum install libjpeg
