  • Here on the forum or on your website?

If you mean the forum, just go to “View your profile”, click “edit” (on the right, small text), change your first name and or last name, save, them toggle the “Display name as” menu. Same for your website, you just go to wp-admin->Profile for the first step.

You can’t (easily) change your username but you can prevent it from showing up.

    Hi S_ha,

    Unfortunately its on my website.

Do you know how I can prevent it from showing up, if not if I start from scratch and download WordPress again do you know if that will resolve the issue?

    Thanking you.

You could always create a new user name on your self-hosted WordPress install and delete the old one.

When you delete the old user, you’ll be given an opportunity to assign all the posts, pages, etc. to another account. Make sure you assign them to your new account.

Make sure you backup first and are ready to restore just in case.

Do you know how I can prevent it from showing up…

I told you how to do that– second to last sentence of my first response.

You can also do what Jan Dembowski suggested. That is better solution that a complete reinstall just to change a username.

You can, although is probably qualifies as a high risk hack, edit the database directly using a tool like PhpMyAdmin. I’ve done it, it worked, but I almost feel guilty suggesting it. You could break things.

Hi Jan Dembowski. Thanks for your advice. I’m new to WordPress so selfhosted WordPress install dosen’t mean much to me. My web hosting package is managed and not self hosted. Are you referring to my local or remote server. I think I will get a friend to download WordPress again. Do you know if that will rectify the problem?

s_ha: I followed your instructions and I managed to prevent the username showing up so thank you so much for that. As I am new to WordPress I don’t think I will try editing the database. Thanks for help ??

Nope, but you will have more effort. Maybe. ??

What’s you URL to your WordPress web page? I think we may have our wires crossed a little.
