admin page as well as website show 'This site is temporarily unavailable..'

  • Hello All
    I have been receiving the message ‘This website is temporarily unavailable, please visit again later.’ when I try opening my website URL or my wp-admin URL.
    The situation has persisted for over 24 hours now. Prior to that, I had changed some content, i.e. background pic, header, post etc. This change was successfully reflected on the website as well. However, later the message started to display and has kept displaying.

    Hi,
    Yes, I have reported the issue to godaddy. Awaiting a reply from them.

    Check in the GoDaddy file manager to see if there’s a file in your WordPress folder called .maintenance — and if so, delete it and you’ll be all set. Note the dot in the filename; that means that it may be hidden, and you’ll have to look for a “show hidden files” setting in the file manager.

    The .maintenance is created automatically during updates, and it’s supposed to be deleted as soon as the update is complete, but it occasionally gets stuck there.
