[Plugin: Better WP Security] Send 3 to 5 backup copies by email each time

You’re right. It’s a bug I have yet to be able to find. Although in most cases it can be reduced to 2 at most if you turn off database query caching.

I wonder if this has a conflict with others who were using the wp-db-backup plugin.

I disabled it to run Better WP Security (BWPS). When I received your reply I disabled the BWPS backups and went back to wp-db-backup. Now I’m receiving 5 backups each day from wp-db-backup.

I’m afraid to enable the backups in BWPS and start receiving 7 or 8 backups each day now. Ha.

It has something to do with how WordPress is calling the hook I need to make it work. I’m actively looking for a solution but so far none has presented itself.

lafeste, are you using database caching? Normally you should only have 1 or maybe 2 extras in the worst case. Database query caching however can cause quite a few as it doesn’t allow the plugin to see that it has already run a backup.

I also have the same problem which is why I deactivated BWPS. I got more than 20 backups a day emailed to me when I had wp-dbmanager installed. Even when I deactivated wp-dbmanager, I still got the same number of backups. The reason why I like the other plugin installed too is that it can email me a backup AND send one via email.

Can this be an added feature to BWPS, that backups can be stored on the server and a copy emailed? I’m just paranoid and want 2 copies daily since a friend of mine has been hacked recently. With the current BWPS you can only choose whether your backup copy is to be stored OR emailed, correct?

@k3na29xx I’m looking at a service to send it to Dropbox, but, as it’s a security plugin, I can’t bring myself to save it to the same server (that could be one heck of a security hole if anything else goes wrong).
